New York Times reviews Only One Thing Can Save Us

Thomas Geoghegan, a veteran labor lawyer, wants his book read by upscale liberals who worry about income inequality and the vanishing middle class but who turn up their noses at all those stolid unions still clinging to life in urban America. Properly reconstituted, Geoghegan insists, the labor movement can save us, and by “us” he means the country as a vibrant democracy, and a Democratic Party that has lost millions of working-class voters either to apathy or to the Republicans.
